Intel has just launched a website called AppUp, an apps store dedicated to selling netbook apps. It is already filled with hundreds of programs and games, all designed to work well on netbook computers. While some apps are free, many come with hefty price tags that reach as high as $40 or more.
Paying for netbook apps is nonsense. Netbooks are designed to operate on the net, with things like Google Apps and other web-based programs. Paying money to download and install programs and games on a netbook, in my mind, simply defeats the whole spirit of net-based computing. Why pay $19.99 to clutter your hard drive with Corel Write when using Google Docs online is free?
This is especially true when it comes to online casino games. I saw one blackjack game for sale in the AppUp store that is going for $9.99! Meanwhile, free no download casino games can be found all over the net, and they run through your web browser, so you don’t have to download or install anything onto your netbook in order to play them.
The same goes for real money online casino games. AppUp might offer a few dozen titles like blackjack, slots, and poker, but these are only for fun. In fact, since you have to buy them, you can only lose money by playing them!

The device will sport a 10 inch display and a dual-core Atom processor. Details about connectivity, memory, and storage have not yet been revealed. The price is also being held back, though the device should be ready to ship before the end of the year.
“What makes the Inspiron duo unique is its dual personality – it transforms seamlessly between a tablet that delivers an immersive entertainment experience to a ultra-mobile laptop with a keyboard enabling instant productivity on the go,” a Dell spokeswoman said.
While the device will likely come with a hefty price tag, it is sure to appeal to casino players, who can switch between the fun tablet mode and the more productive netbook mode with little effort. It’s basically the perfect gaming netbook!
