Acer Aspire One E100 plays Windows and Android

January 25th, 2011

Acer Aspire One E100 plays Windows and Android Casinos

Acer may intend the Aspire E100 Education netbook computer for learning purposes, but studies have demonstrated that students enjoy games of chance just as much as anyone else. So, the question becomes, how well suited is the E100 for internet gambling?

Though the 10-inch 1024×600 display and Intel Atom N550 processor are certainly adequate to the purpose of visiting online casinos, netbook players will be find several features much more compelling. For example, its ability to run the Google Android system not only allows the owner to play Android casino games, but also functions as an “instant on”, enabling the user to rapidly launch a web-browser and visit their favorite no download casinos.

Better still, the Aspire One E100 is a dual booting netbook computer, also providing support for Microsoft Windows 7, so if players feel the Android casinos and web-based casinos are getting cold, they can reboot into Windows to play some Windows casino games.

The Acer E100 can communicate wirelessly using both WiFi 802.11 (b/g/n) and Bluetooth 2.1. For memory and data storage, the E100 includes 1GM of DDR RAM, 250GB hard drive, and a multi-format memory card reader.

Acer anticipates the typical battery life will give users a good 8 hours to enjoy blackjack, slot machines, and any other online casino games.

The Aspire E100 is being developed in conjunction with European Schoolnet and will first be available at European schools, which are likely to co-brand the unit and preload educational bloatware.

Jolibook netbook not worth the price

November 18th, 2010

Jolibook netbookComputer users have been excited about the upcoming Jolibook, which runs on a new Linux-based netbook operation system called Jolicloud. The Jolibook was touted to be competitively priced, but now that the price has been announced, much of the former excitement is dying down.

The Jolibook will cost £279 ($444) when it hits the shelves – a high pricetag for any netbook, but especially high for one covered with cartoon drawings and running on a free operating system. Little is known about the final specs, but we do know that the Jolibook will sport an Atom N550 CPU and a 250GB hard drive. It seems to be an average system, especially when compared to Atom dual-core machines that can be purchased for about the same price

Jolibook might be the “official” Jolicloud netbook computer, but it’s not the only way to get the new operating system. Jolicloud can be downloaded free of cost, and installed on any computer, even alongside Windows 7. The operating system has been designed with netbooks in mind, and its focus is on simplicity and ease of use. The OS could offer strong competition for Google’s Chrome OS if it takes off.

Since Jolicloud supports Firefox, Google Chrome, and other popular web browsers, it is well suited to run no download casinos. The wonderful thing about instant play casino games is that they are OS-independent, and can be enjoyed on any computer that can connect to the internet. Jolicloud users can just boot up, launch their favorite web browser, then go to any of our best rated online casinos to play and win.

Jolicloud can be downloaded now, but the Jolibook isn’t due out later this month.

Acer promises Android + Windows 7 netbooks

October 7th, 2010

Android plus Windows 7Netbook computer manufacturer Acer just announced that they intend to ship all of their upcoming dual-core networks with two operating systems pre-installed. The machines will come with both Windows 7 and Android OS. However you look at it, this is big news for netbook gaming!

So far, Acer has released two dual OS nebooks: the Aspire One D250 and the Aspire One D260. Both systems prioritize Windows 7 as the main operating system, which is great for general computer use and for playing online casino games. But the addition of Android means faster internet, great multimedia content, and access to exclusive Android games. Combining Android with Windows 7 will give netbook gamers the best of both worlds.

Netbooks running only Android have been around for a while, but the limitations of the OS make them tough to use. The OS was designed for smartphone use, so using it to power a full computer is a bit tricky. Early machines had big problems running a simple mouse, since mouse support was not part of the original design. But Android is evolving, and these new machines are very slick.

No word yet on when the new dual-OS Acer netbooks will start shipping.

Intel charging for netbook casino games!

September 28th, 2010

Intel AppUpIntel has just launched a website called AppUp, an apps store dedicated to selling netbook apps. It is already filled with hundreds of programs and games, all designed to work well on netbook computers. While some apps are free, many come with hefty price tags that reach as high as $40 or more.

Paying for netbook apps is nonsense. Netbooks are designed to operate on the net, with things like Google Apps and other web-based programs. Paying money to download and install programs and games on a netbook, in my mind, simply defeats the whole spirit of net-based computing. Why pay $19.99 to clutter your hard drive with Corel Write when using Google Docs online is free?

This is especially true when it comes to online casino games. I saw one blackjack game for sale in the AppUp store that is going for $9.99! Meanwhile, free no download casino games can be found all over the net, and they run through your web browser, so you don’t have to download or install anything onto your netbook in order to play them.

The same goes for real money online casino games. AppUp might offer a few dozen titles like blackjack, slots, and poker, but these are only for fun. In fact, since you have to buy them, you can only lose money by playing them!

My advice: skip the new Intel AppUp store and use webapps instead. For casino games, pick one of these top ten online casinos and sign up. Instead of paying to play, play to win.

HP announces their fastest netbook ever

September 2nd, 2010

HP Mini 5103Hewlett-Packard has broken their own speed barrier with the announcement of a huge upgrade to the current HP Mini 5103 line, making it the fastest netbook they have ever produced.

This powerhouse sports an N550 dual-core processor, which runs at a speed of 1.5GHz, giving the netbook a 20% boost in speed over all current HP netbook computers.

The netbook will have intense graphic capabilities, making it great for gaming. The standard model will offer 720p playback, while an optional video acceleration card will give the machine the ability to play 1080p video. A 10.1-inch display is perfect for showing off what this little guy can do.

The best part about this new netbook is its price: the line will start at just $399 (but this is for a weaker single-core version). While a dual core netbook is probably overkill for playing online casino games, a little extra computing power never hurt anyone! Plus, with a battery life of between 10 and 11 hours, this is definitely a netbook to look forward to.
